Day 2
Ayutthaya Historical Park (Breakfast and Lunch)
07:00 – Meet your local guide in the lobby of your hotel and depart by road for Ayutthaya, the ancient capital of the Kingdom of Siam.
Covering an area of more than 289 hectares, Ayutthaya Historical Park is home to the ruins of over 300 temples and royal palaces dating back to the Ayutthaya Kingdom (1350–1767).
Recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1991, Ayutthaya was once one of the largest and wealthiest empires in Southeast Asia, flourishing as a major trading hub and an important link between East and West.
Our first stop is Wat Phanan Choeng, one of Ayutthaya’s oldest and most revered monasteries. The temple houses the impressive 19-metre-high Phra Phanan Choeng Buddha, also known as Luang Pho To (“The Great Compassionate Father”), one of the city’s most sacred and venerated Buddha images.
We then continue to Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon, an impressive temple complex dominated by its magnificent 60-metre-high bell-shaped chedi (Phra Chedi Chaya Mongkhon), one of Ayutthaya’s most iconic landmarks.
The tour continues with a visit to Wat Mahathat, the former royal temple, renowned worldwide for the famous sandstone Buddha head entwined within the roots of an ancient banyan tree.
Lunch (included) will be served at a local restaurant.
In the afternoon, we visit Wat Phra Si Sanphet, the temple of the former Royal Palace, distinguished by its three elegant bell-shaped chedis.
Our final stop is the magnificent Wat Chaiwatthanaram, a spectacular riverside temple complex overlooking the Chao Phraya River, admired for its distinctive Khmer-inspired architecture.
Return to Bangkok at the end of the excursion.
Dinner at leisure (not included).
Overnight in Bangkok.
Total distance covered: approx 160 km
Day 3
Maeklong Railway Market & Damnoen Saduak Floating Market Excursion, followed by visits to Wat Pho and the Royal Grand Palace (Breakfast)
07:00 – Meet your guide in the lobby of your hotel and depart for the famous Maeklong Railway Market, located approximately 90 km west of Bangkok.
This unique market is built directly alongside an active railway line. Several times a day, as the train slowly passes through, vendors swiftly move their goods and retract their awnings, only to return everything to its original position moments later, creating one of Thailand’s most extraordinary and photogenic scenes.
Continue to the renowned Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, one of Thailand’s most iconic attractions, located in Ratchaburi Province along the historic Damnoen Saduak Canal.
Every morning, hundreds of vendors aboard traditional wooden boats gather to sell fresh fruit, vegetables, local delicacies, and handicrafts, creating a vibrant and colorful atmosphere. Explore the market aboard a traditional long-tail boat.
Although today the floating market is primarily a tourist attraction, the canal network once served as the region’s principal transportation and trading route.
After the morning visits, return to Bangkok, arriving at your hotel around lunchtime (subject to traffic conditions). Lunch at your leisure (not included).
In the afternoon, visit Wat Pho and the Royal Grand Palace.
The oldest and largest temple in Bangkok, Wat Pho is located on Rattanakosin Island, close to the Royal Grand Palace. It is a First-Class Royal Temple closely associated with King Rama I, founder of the Chakri Dynasty.
The temple’s main chapel houses the magnificent Reclining Buddha, an impressive gilded statue measuring 46 metres long and 15 metres high, making it one of Thailand’s most celebrated religious monuments.
Since 1962, Wat Pho has also been home to Thailand’s most prestigious school of traditional Thai medicine and massage.
The magnificent Royal Grand Palace is Bangkok’s most iconic landmark and Thailand’s most visited attraction.
Construction began in 1782, when King Rama I established Bangkok as the capital of the Kingdom of Rattanakosin. Completed a century later, the palace complex covers approximately 220,000 square metres, enclosed by walls stretching nearly 2 kilometres.
The complex consists of four main sections, including the revered Wat Phra Kaew (Temple of the Emerald Buddha), home to Thailand’s most sacred image: the Emerald Buddha, a finely carved jadeite statue standing approximately 75 cm tall.
Beyond its religious significance, Wat Phra Kaew is regarded as one of the finest examples of traditional Siamese architecture, sculpture, and decorative art.
Although the Royal Family no longer resides in the palace, it continues to host important royal ceremonies, state receptions, and religious events.
Return to your hotel at the end of the tour.
Dinner at leisure (not included).
