Kanchanaburi & Ayutthaya is a carefully designed journey operated with a limited number of participants.
This fascinating itinerary combines authentic local markets, breathtaking natural landscapes, and Thailand’s rich historical heritage.
The tour begins with two of the country’s most iconic attractions: the unique Maeklong Railway Market, where vendors swiftly move their stalls as the train passes through the market, and the famous Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, one of Thailand’s most popular and colorful destinations.
The journey then continues to Kanchanaburi Province, where lunch is served at a charming local restaurant located just a short walk from the legendary Bridge over the River Kwai, an important landmark closely linked to the history of World War II.
In the afternoon, transfer to a picturesque eco-lodge nestled along the banks of the Kwai Noi River, surrounded by lush tropical scenery and peaceful nature.
The following day is dedicated to the spectacular Erawan National Park, one of Thailand’s most beautiful protected areas. Its world-famous seven-tiered waterfalls, emerald-green natural pools, and dense tropical forest provide an unforgettable setting for nature lovers.
After the visit, continue overland to Ayutthaya, the former capital of the Kingdom of Siam and one of Southeast Asia’s most important historical and archaeological sites.
The next morning, explore the Ayutthaya Historical Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Magnificent prangs, ancient monasteries, impressive Buddha statues, and atmospheric ruins reveal the grandeur of the former Siamese capital and offer a fascinating insight into Thailand’s rich cultural heritage.
Note: at the end of the tour, return to Bangkok or continue north as part of the Thailand Explorer itinerary (*)

Itinerary
Day 1 – Tuesday
Mae Klong Railway Market, Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, Bridge over the River Kwai, Tham Krasae Cave, Death Railway, and overnight stay in eco-lodge (Lunch)
07:00 – After breakfast, meet your guide at the lobby of your hotel and depart for the Mae Klong Railway Market, located in the district of the same name in Samut Songkhram Province, approximately 80 km from Bangkok.
The market takes its name from its unique location directly alongside the railway tracks connecting Mae Klong and Mahachai. Each time a train passes through, vendors quickly move their goods and retract their awnings, only to set everything back in place moments later—a fascinating spectacle that has made the market famous around the world.
We then continue to the renowned Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, located in Ratchaburi Province, about 90 km west of Bangkok.
Boarding a traditional long-tail boat, we will cruise through the rural canals to reach this colorful and picturesque market. Every morning, hundreds of vendors in small wooden boats gather along the canal to sell fresh produce, fruits, vegetables, and local products, creating a lively and authentic atmosphere. Free time will be available to explore the market.
Afterwards, transfer to Kanchanaburi, where lunch (included) will be served at a riverside restaurant overlooking the famous Bridge over the River Kwai.
In the afternoon will transfer to Sai Yok and check in at an eco-lodge nestled along the banks of the Kwai Noi River, surrounded by lush tropical vegetation.
The remainder of the afternoon is at leisure, with the opportunity to relax and enjoy a refreshing swim in the resort’s natural thermal pool.
Dinner at leisure (not included).
Overnight stay in Sai Yok.
Total distance covered: approx 270 km.
Day 2 – Wednesday
Erawan National Park, transfer to Ayutthaya (Breakfast and Lunch)
Breakfast at the resort, check-out, and departure by road to Erawan National Park, widely regarded as one of Thailand’s most beautiful national parks.
The entire morning will be dedicated to exploring the spectacular Erawan Waterfalls through a soft jungle trekking trail (approximately 3 hours). This natural paradise is renowned for its series of emerald-green pools, perfect for a refreshing swim amidst lush tropical vegetation (remember to bring your swimsuit and a towel)
Lunch at a local restaurant (included)
After lunch, transfer to Ayutthaya, with arrival at the hotel expected in the late afternoon (subject to traffic conditions).
Dinner at leisure (not included).
Overnight stay in Ayutthaya.
Total distance covered: approx 290 km.
Day 5 – Thursday
Ayutthaya Historical Park (Breakfast and Lunch)
07:00 AM – Meet your guide at the lobby and depart by road towards Ayutthaya.
Covering an area of over 289 hectares, the Ayutthaya Historical Park includes the ruins of more than 300 temples and palaces dating back to the Kingdom of Ayutthaya (1350–1767). This invaluable heritage site was officially recognized by UNESCO in 1991. The Kingdom of Ayutthaya was one of the largest and wealthiest empires in Southeast Asia, known for its vibrant trade relations with major global powers of the time—an important crossroads between East and West.
We will visit some of the most significant temples of the ancient capital: Wat Ratcha Burana, Wat Mahathat—famous for the Buddha head entwined within the roots of an ancient tree—and Wat Phra Si Sanphet, the most important temple of the old capital, once reserved for the exclusive use of the king and royal family.
At the end of the sightseeing program, guests may choose between the following options:
- Return to Bangkok: Lunch at a local restaurant (included), followed by the transfer back to Bangkok.
- Continue North: Proceed north as part of the Thailand Explorer itinerary, with an overnight stay in Sukhothai.
