Choui Fong Tea Plantation, Mae Fah Luang Garden, and Doi Tung (Breakfast and Lunch)
07:30 – Meet our guide at the hotel’s lobby and depart for the remote mountains of northern Thailand, close to the Myanmar border, along a scenic route far from the usual tourist trails.
Your first stop will be the renowned Choui Fong Tea Plantation, located in the Mae Chan district. Spanning more than 190 hectares across rolling hills at elevations ranging from 500 to 1,200 metres above sea level, this spectacular tea estate offers breathtaking panoramic views over endless green terraces. Benefiting from a cool and favourable climate, the plantation produces some of Thailand’s finest and most internationally acclaimed teas, including Oolong, Assam, Green Tea and Black Tea.
Continue north to the Mae Fah Luang District, near the Myanmar border, in the heart of the legendary Golden Triangle region. Known today for its stunning landscapes and cultural heritage, this area was once infamous for the cultivation and trafficking of opium.
A remarkable transformation began in 1985, when Her Royal Highness Princess Srinagarindra established the Mae Fah Luang Foundation and launched the pioneering Doi Tung Development Project (DTDP).
Through sustainable development initiatives, environmental restoration and social programs, the project significantly improved the lives of local ethnic minority communities while helping to eradicate the opium trade.
The tour includes a visit to the beautiful Mae Fah Luang Garden, one of Northern Thailand’s most impressive botanical attractions. Once part of an area affected by opium cultivation, the site has been transformed into a magnificent floral garden and a symbol of successful sustainable development.
Stroll through beautifully landscaped pathways lined with colourful seasonal flowers, ornamental plants and lush greenery, all carefully maintained by members of the local community. The garden offers a perfect combination of natural beauty, tranquillity and cultural significance.
