Itinerary
Day 1
Bang Pa-In Summer Palace, Ayutthaya Historical Park (Lunch)
07:30 – Meet your guide at the lobby of your hotel and depart towards North.
The first stop of the day is the Bang Pa-In Royal Summer Palace, located along the banks of the Chao Phraya River, approximately 20 km south of Ayutthaya.
Still used today by members of the Thai Royal Family, particularly during the summer months from which it takes its name, the Summer Palace features an elegant collection of buildings set within beautifully landscaped gardens.
Most of the existing structures were commissioned during the reign of King Rama V (1868–1910). As the first Siamese monarch to visit Europe, Rama V was greatly inspired by the grandeur and architectural styles of European capitals. Upon his return, he commissioned the construction of several palaces and ornamental buildings reflecting the distinctive European architectural influences of the period.
Continue to Ayutthaya, the former capital of the Kingdom of Siam, where we will visit its remarkable archaeological park.
Covering an area of more than 289 hectares, the Ayutthaya Historical Park preserves the ruins of over 300 temples and palaces dating back to the Ayutthaya Kingdom (1350–1767). This invaluable cultural treasure was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1991. At its height, Ayutthaya was one of the largest and wealthiest empires in Southeast Asia, serving as a major trading hub and an important link between East and West.
Visits include some of the most significant monuments of the ancient capital, including Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon, renowned for its monumental chedi; Wat Ratchaburana; Wat Mahathat, famous for the iconic Buddha head entwined within the roots of an ancient tree; and Wat Phra Si Sanphet, the most important temple of the former royal capital, reserved exclusively for the King and members of the Royal Family.
